Buckingham Canal Society are seeking a self-motivated, enthusiastic support worker to join their team, working to targeted outcomes developing positive working relationships with their volunteers and enable them to achieve their potential.

This person will help volunteers to develop personal transferable skills and individual plans to achieve this. The outcome of this will also enable a succession planning capability for the Society, whilst helping volunteers improve opportunities for themselves. In some cases, this will assist with return to employment and/or improved careers through conservation and restoration related activities as part of a voluntary team. Additionally the support worker role will include assisting the Society in project administration and planning support activities as well as record maintenance.

The role is seen by the Trustees to be a key enabler for the Society to support the development of a broad range of volunteer personnel who in turn will help the growth and objectives of the Society and drive the canal restoration forward. Working with the charity’s trustees and management team, you will also help drive community engagement and partnerships delivering an overall greater project capacity. This part-time role will possibly enable the successful applicant to simultaneously undertake personal development training; the Society plans to work closely with Aylesbury &/or Milton Keynes College and other relevant training providers to support the employee outside of the working hours to achieve this.

Some weekend working is essential to this role and hours will be annualised.

Senior Finance Manager with World Vision

As Senior Finance Manager operating as part of the leadership team within their Finance & Risk (F&R) Group, you will be responsible for driving strategic direction and operational performance in respect of an assigned function which is likely to include: management accounting, finance business partnership, financial accounting and control or audit and taxation. This is also a spiritual and cultural role where you will use your Christian ethos to foster alignment with strategic objectives and well-being amongst the team.

With a strong understanding of business activities in general, you will implement these to demonstrate how F&R will support risk management and delivery of value. Developing and driving strategies, policies and procedures to influence improvements within the organisation will be key, and you will also have the chance to advise and direct certain stakeholders in relation to a particular assigned function. Working with the Centre of Financial Excellence, this will also give you the opportunity to promote effectiveness, efficiency and prioritisation of procedures and operations.

To be considered, you will need to be fully qualified (eg. ACA/CA, CIMA, ACCA would be ideal) with solid post qualification experience in a financial management role.  With excellent people/communication skills, you should have experience of managing and developing a team and have effective skills in influencing and gaining commitment and interest from non-finance professionals regarding financial matters.
