Engage MK is a project run by Community Action: MK and funded via the Safer MK partnership. The aim of the project is to connect and support frontline community workers and local Action Groups to build their skills and confidence in community work.
We recently ran a workshop for community groups on Fundraising, which was run by fundraising professional Sam Davies. This session explored different fundraising techniques including online fundraising, lotteries and events; how we can tell more effective stories to encourage support; and how to retain and thank supporters.
Our attendees represented 14 different organisations including residents associations, neighbourhood watch schemes, a housing group, a local faith organisation and community groups. Feedback from the session was great, and there were lots of useful tips to help groups to think about their fundraising techniques.
Our next event, ‘Community Conversations: Exploring ways to engage communities‘ is on 1st December. This informal networking event will give attendees the chance to share their engagement techniques, learn from others, and network with colleagues from the voluntary and public sectors.
