Christmas Volunteering Opportunities in Milton Keynes
AGE UK, Milton Keynes
AGE UK, MK are running a Christmas Gift Wrapping project in Central Milton Keynes Shopping Centre (previously Midsummer Place) to help raise funds for their services. They are hoping to rally together a team of volunteers to support them with the project. The project will run from Friday (27th November) through to Christmas Eve whenever the centre is open for Christmas shopping. There are various things volunteers are required to do, such as wrapping gifts for customers, taking customer’s orders (choice of paper/ribbons), taking payment, giving gifts back to the customers who preferred not to wait while gifts were being wrapped and restocking supplies. There will be three training sessions during November (dates to be confirmed) and each participant will be asked to attend one. If you are interested in this voluntary opportunity please register at http://www.do-it.org
Fareshare
Join Team FareShare at the nation’s biggest food collection and help fight hunger this Christmas. By giving just three hours of your time you could collect enough tins, cans and store-cupboard staples for five hundred meals for people in need!
This is the seventh food collection that they are running with Tesco and partner charity the Trussell Trust. Together they hope to make a big difference to some of the 5.8 million people currently living in extreme poverty in the UK this winter. They will deliver the food you collect to homeless hostels, refuges, older people’s lunch clubs, children’s breakfast clubs and other charities working with people in need.
Volunteers are needed to take part in this collection from 3rd – 5th December at Tesco stores in Wolverton, Kingston and Bletchley, and further afield in Buckingham, Leighton Buzzard, Luton, Flitwick and Bedford.
