‘Underpasses – Connecting People, Connecting Places’ project

Working with the support of the Project Manager the Volunteer Coordinator will be responsible for the recruitment and assessment of volunteers, ensuring volunteers meet the criteria for the project; ensuring accessibility to specified groups; designing and leading the delivery of appropriate induction, including health and safety training and OTV’s policies and procedures; managing the allocation of volunteers to appropriate areas of work; and providing regular supervision and support to volunteers in their placements.

On the Verge (OTV) is a CIC which is delivering the ‘Gateways Project’, a long-term independent public art project with a focus on the estates around the central area of Milton Keynes. The first phase, the ‘Banners’ project, has been successfully delivered and with funding from HLF, On the Verge is now preparing the delivery of the Underpasses project for the MK50 celebration in 2017.

The key aim of On The Verge is to improve ‘place identity’, engaging with specific communities around the central area of Milton Keynes.

Working closely with the Project Manager the Project Coordinator will assist in the delivery of the project and undertake administrative duties; including coordinating and managing the recruitment of artists for the community engagement process and the programme of activities with schools and other local groups; coordinating underpasses unveiling events; and will work with the Project Manager on the development of the two children’s publications, Heritage trail leaflet and App and printed project related materials.

Children and Young People Consultation with Arts & Heritage Alliance Milton Keynes

The Arts & Heritage Alliance Milton Keynes (AHA-MK) is setting up the Milton Keynes Cultural Education Partnership (MKCEP) in response to Arts Council England’s Cultural Education Challenge.  The Cultural Education Challenge asks arts and cultural organisations, educational institutions and local authorities to come together to drive a joined-up arts and cultural offer locally, to share resources and bring about a more coherent, and visible delivery of cultural education that offers a consistent, and high quality, arts and cultural education for all children and young people.

The MKCEP is made up of a network of arts, heritage and educational partners, led by a strategic steering group, which includes representatives from senior positions at MK Council, SEMLEP, their National Portfolio Organisations and Milton Keynes Police.

The MKCEP aims to develop a Cultural Education Strategy and Action Plan that ensures every child and young person in Milton Keynes has the opportunity to create, participate in and influence culture.  Through this engagement they will positively impact the well-being of young people and support their creative, personal and educational development.  In addition, they aim to nurture the passion and capacity of children and young people to become artists, practitioners, producers and directors within the cultural and creative industries.

Consultation:

Arts & Heritage Alliance are seeking an Engagement Consultant with expertise in working with children and young people to undertake consultation with a range of young people 5-19 years old, which will inform the Cultural Education Strategy and Action Plan.  The MKCEP is looking to work with someone who demonstrates a good understanding of approaches to consultation and working with children and young people, and who can plan and deliver the best option for this task.
