RNIB and Action have brought together their three largest networks of blind and partially sighted people.  RNIB Members, Campaigners and Action Connectors are now a single community of some 24,000 individuals.  This new community is called RNIB Connect and was launched in February 2016.

The role of RNIB Connect is to bring people together and to connect individuals to activities, groups and organisations.  RNIB Connect will want to build relationships with and support other organisations and groups, as we know that there are a lot of people who already organise activities or have networks around them.  It doesn’t matter who leads on activities in any area; what is important is that people are connected to relevant opportunities.

RNIB Connect will be led by blind and partially sighted people and there will be volunteer community connectors for each region/country, who will work with other blind and partially sighted people to shape the community in their area.

RNIB Connect ‘welcome’ events are taking place in all regions and nations.  Blind and partially sighted people from RNIB Connect will lead these sessions which will explore the local context and opportunities in order to build a stronger and better-connected community of blind and partially sighted people.
