You will be an enterprising, environmentally committed, cycling enthusiast with high level cycle mechanic skills who is keen to share those skills with young people and others in the community.

Cycle Saviours is a new social enterprise whose mission is to save unwanted bikes, save the environment and help get people on their bikes. In addition to their work recycling, repairing and servicing bikes they have recently been awarded a large contract to maintain bikes for a new Milton Keynes’ public bike rental scheme and are also expanding their community engagement services to encourage more people to get on their bikes.

There are both permanent full and part-time post posts available.  For this post you will need an enhanced DBS check.

The purpose of this post is to work with and train young people on their pre-apprenticeship programme to engage with the Cycle Saviours enterprise to:

  • source, refurbish and sell unwanted bikes and bike spares and repair and service customer bikes
  • develop community activities that promote access to cycling
  • service, repair and relocate rental bikes (involves driving a small van)

You will:

  • Be an enterprising, cycling enthusiast with good cycle maintenance skills
  • Ideally hold a cycle maintenance qualification
  • Have an ability to, and experience of, working with young people
  • A passion for cycling and the environment
  • Have strong administrative skills
  • Qualifications at level 2 or above in English and Maths
  • Strong team work skills and an ability to work constructively with others
  • A commitment to the completion of work and to the achievement of targets
  • Hold a current driving license

Working closely with the Project Manager the Project Coordinator will:

 Recruit and manage up to 25 volunteers for the following events:

Emergency Hormonal Contraception (EHC) and C: Card Coordinator with Brook

 

Salary: £20,844 – £23,132 per annum / pro rata (subject to review)

The purpose of the role is to insure the efficient and effective coordination of the Emergency Hormonal Contraception (EHC) scheme and the C: Card program, a condom distribution scheme, within Milton Keynes.

EHC Scheme

  • Responsible for accurate monitoring of all aspects of EHC scheme service delivery across pharmacies
  • Organisation and administration of training provision to pharmacists
  • Responsible for ensuring that pharmacists are provided with all resources required to effectively run the scheme
  • Responsible for ensuring the scheme is widely available across Milton Keynes pharmacies, targeting areas of high need and ensuring a good geographical spread.
  • Ensure that accurate information on participating sites is available to the public
  • Ensure the effective liaison between all partner agencies
  • Responsible for operating within payment information and cross charging pathways as directed by Milton Keynes Public Health
  • Provide timely and accurate activity reports to the Service Manager and Commissioners.
  • Responsible for the organisation and administration of EHC operational group meetings
  • Provide one point of contact for pharmacists, providing information in response to queries and effectively signposting pharmacists where necessary
  • Coordinate and take an active role in undertaking patient satisfaction surveys and mystery shopping activities

C: Card Scheme

 

  • Build and maintain relationships with organisations delivering the condom scheme and support them to deliver a quality service to young people

 

  • Work with local sexual health services to support development of referral pathways and ways to support the scheme
  • Run Sexual Health Sessions in Schools and Youth Clubs in order to promote and advertise the scheme, registering Young People at the events
  • Run regular drop ins at key partner organisations if needed
  • Undertake outreach work to promote the condom card scheme
  • Manage operational relationships with C: Card site personnel to ensure compliance with the scheme, identify any training needs and issues and to improve monitoring.
  • Support the setup of new sites including on-site training on the Data System, setting working agreements and quality criteria
  • Ensure staff are trained and understand relevant policies, including safeguarding and the requirements for being part of the scheme
  • Produce timely data and reports for the Service Manager and Commissioners
  • Manage the ordering and delivery process for condoms and related materials
  • Responsible for the distribution of condom packs to pick up points
  • Ensure that registration and distribution sites collect data on a regular basis
  • Ensure all members of the scheme are kept up to date of local sexual health providers and referral pathways
  • Support the evaluation of the scheme including supporting young people to mystery shop outlets
  • Record all activity for monitoring and evaluation purposes
