About the Voluntary Opportunity

Arts Gateway MK are looking for 2 or 3 additional Trustees to join the Board of Arts Gateway Milton Keynes (AGMK). This is a great opportunity to guide the strategic development of an arts charity and contribute to the cultural life of Milton Keynes, which is bidding next year to become City of Culture 2023.

About the organisation

AGMK is a long standing arts charity set up to support, nurture and promote the arts in Milton Keynes and surrounding area. Now with no regular external funding, it sustains itself by taking on vacant office spaces and converting these to temporary arts and cultural hubs. The hubs help meet demand for low cost desk and studio space for micro businesses in the creative industries, and provide performance and exhibition space.  Currently the charity manages 25,000 sq ft across five premises. AGMK also provides mentoring, event promotion, networking and knowledge exchange opportunities for creative artists and those interested in the creative arts, volunteering opportunities and resource and equipment hire.

What are they looking for

As a Trustee, you will be responsible for setting strategy, providing good governance and steering the organisation to maximise its resources for the benefit of the arts in Milton Keynes. They are looking for  self-motivated and solution-focused individuals with leadership skills and a general interest in the creative arts. They are particularly interested in applicants who have experience, knowledge and/or skills in any of the following areas:

  • Fundraising / Bid writing;
  • Non residential Property management and development;
  • Finance.
