Can your local parish council benefit from a smart and integrated reporting app?

We’ve got a new exciting opportunity available for local parish councils to be part of – as part of the Our MK initiative and the Redways Reporting App project.

The Redways Reporting App project was proposed by a keen local cyclist, Eric Armitage, to help increase usage of the Redways and is now being led by Tim Butler at One Issue. The project was developed on the premise that problems such as uneven surfaces, poor lighting, broken glass, fly tipping are all deterrent to the use of Redways.

The aim of this project is to provide a means for Redway users to record and report issues with accurate positioning through a simple user friendly mobile app at the time they are identified. Whilst the Council’s web site currently has a facility for recording such issues using Mobile Web Forms, we feel that a mobile app would simplify this process, in particular by providing a precise location and a photographic record of the issue via the mobile phone’s camera and built in GPS.

With this in mind, we feel that parish councils might be particularly interested in a trial of a solution that could aid them with this work. One Issue is a simple-to-use issue reporting, management and resolution tool that can be customised easily for this purpose. One Issue has already produced a demonstrator for this and are keen to understand the Parish Councils requirements and implement the proposed Trial with 50 volunteers reporting issues in one or two Parishes. Community Action: MK will be helping with recruiting volunteers for the trial.
