We’re sharing stories about amazing volunteers giving their time in Milton Keynes. This spotlight is on Elizabeth Rabone, who is volunteering at Carers MK.

Liz has been kindly donating her time to Carers MK since 2008. She provides relaxation therapies to unpaid carers in the form of reflexology or indian head massage.

Liz volunteers every month and offers 3 individual sessions to carers each month. Liz always offers her time in addition to this for any events we are holding. Feedback from carers is really positive.

A relaxation therapy enables a carer to take a small time away from their caring role and switch off for that moment. It gives the carers some well deserved ‘me time’ Liz fully understands this and is great with the carers.

The carers really trust Liz, and often ask for their name to be added back on the waiting list for another therapy.

Nothing is ever too much for Liz. She is a kind hearted person and a valued volunteer. Liz will even swap her days about to accommodate her holidays, so that carers do not miss out. Liz is an absolute star and someone that we are really proud to have as a volunteer for Carers MK.

These are some of the comments made by carers accessing therapy treatments with Liz:

Very caring and expert reflexologist – thank you. It is marvellous that she gives her time as a volunteer.

Very relaxing, made me feel like I was the one that mattered.

Lovely friendly lady, very relaxing reflexology. Thank you very much.

I was able to have time just for me.

Time for myself and being able to talk to someone who showed understanding.

A totally new experience. Liz had a very gentle and relaxed manner which transferred to me.

The entire indian head massage was amazing.
