We’re sharing stories about amazing volunteers giving their time in Milton Keynes. This spotlight is on the MK Gallery Volunteer Team.

At MK Gallery our volunteer team provide invaluable support to the Front of House staff, through invigilation of exhibitions, events assistance and visitor services provisions. They are the friendly, informative and responsive face of MK Gallery. They welcome visitors; engage people in conversations to enable deeper understanding of the exhibitions and programmes; answer questions; promote future activities and collect visitor feedback, to ensure that MK Gallery runs effectively and is able to deliver world-class cultural experiences. In return for the dedication of the Gallery volunteers, MK Gallery provides vital experience working within a creative organisation. Our current team dedicate between 9 and 18 hours of their time a week to the organisation, and have supported MK Gallery for a cumulative total of 26 years.

Our current volunteer team contribute hundreds of hours of their time each year. They are an exceptional group, always enthusiastic and willing, and hugely diverse in their interests and backgrounds. We feel their commitment and passion for MK Gallery is something that should be celebrated with this award. Beyond this, the MK Gallery volunteer team should be recognised for their proactive approach to building and enhancing their relationships with each other; independently of MK Gallery, the volunteer team regularly arrange lunches and gatherings to develop and enjoy their shared enthusiasm for the arts. We feel this makes the Gallery’s volunteer team strong and unique and we would love to create wider recognition of this small team whom we truly treasure.
