Tuesday 19 September 2017 2.00pm – 5:00pm
Charities Aid Foundation, London

Are you new to chairing? The Association of Chairs, part of the Charities Aid Foundation invites you to a practical briefing for new Chairs, which comes highly recommended by previous participants.

The interactive session will focus on the role in practice, for example looking at preparing and chairing board meetings, working with your CEO/lead officer, as well as building a collaborative and effective governing body.

The session will also explore the leadership skills and knowledge that will make you the most effective Chair you can become – and the support that you might need. Emphasis will be on the strengths you bring, as well as the ‘gaps’ you want to fill. And you’ll pick up some practical tips that might be useful in your particular setting.

By the end of this event, participants will have covered the basics regarding the legal duties of their board; explored approaches to their management of the role; had an opportunity to network with other Chairs and considered priorities for their own development and support.

The event is free to members who also have a two week priority booking. It will then open non member bookings and the event will be filled on a first come first served basis. Book here.
