Grants Programmes Officer – The Harpur Trust – Bedford

The Harpur Trust has been inspiring and supporting the people of Bedford to help them improve their lives for 450 years. We want everyone to have pride in the community and realise their own potential. We give grants to local community projects and look after older people in our almshouses, support and promote education, sponsor a multi-academy trust and operate four independent schools.

This is a pivotal role within a small Community Programmes department. The team makes grants, provides accommodation for older people, supports collaborative educational initiatives and runs events and other activities to help inspire Bedford communities.

You will be accountable for ensuring the grant making process is run effectively whilst also supporting the Trust’s broader community activities. This will involve relationship building, operating grant making systems, developing administrative processes and co-ordinating existing grants programmes. Project management and strategic thinking will be key to this role.

You will have a degree or equivalent qualification and experience of working in the voluntary sector and/or relevant areas of the statutory sector, ideally possessing grant making experience. You will be an excellent communicator, highly organised, and proficient in all Microsoft packages. The ideal candidate will be motivated, flexible and intellectually curious.
