A fundraising idea: an entertaining concert by ‘Andante’

Andante is a small local fundraising choir with a large range of music to suit all tastes. They sing in and around Milton Keynes to help good causes. In short – they raise their voices to help you raise funds. The choir provides a mixed programme arranged with conductor Roger Windmill.  They sing very varied music so there’s something for everyone – well known melodies from stage and screen, folk songs, spirituals, church music, pop songs and classics. Choir items are interspersed with duets, quartets and solos from their singers and their talented accompanist Ed Tomlinson. They involve the audience too, particularly at Christmas.

Andante concerts provide an evening’s entertainment in support of the cause you choose. In recent years they’ve helped local groups to raise thousands of pounds for diverse causes including schooling in Africa, an orphanage in Sri Lanka, Willen Hospice, a Food Bank, an Alzheimer’s Centre, community hall and church repairs, and children’s, environmental, and cancer charities.

The choir’s services are given free of charge; your only outlay is a fee of £60 for their accompanist. They simply need space for 18 chairs and a good piano for accompaniment (they can bring one if necessary). They provide programme artwork, but you are responsible for publicity and ticket/programme sales. Obviously proceeds are relative to audience size and ticket price, as is choosing a date that avoids school and public holidays. Normally they sing two sets of 45 minutes each, with a 20 minute interval – but some groups invite them to sing before and after a meal to make an evening with a difference.

The following dates are still available for booking in 2018: Saturday 19th May, Saturday 20th October, Thursday 13th December and Thursday 20th December. Please enquire about dates for 2019 if you would like to book further ahead. To find out more and book an entertaining concert from Andante, contact them via their website: www.andantemk.org
