Community Action: MK are leading the Connector initiative running as part of the Managing My Money project, in Broughton, The Lakes Estate and Woughton. The project is lead by the Open University and funded by the Money Advice Service.

It aims to support people to better understand their finances and provide tips to help them make better choices that will have positive impacts on their financial wellbeing.

As part of the project, we went to visit a Connector, Laura, in the Lakes Estate last week. As well as supporting her community through the Managing My Money project, she also runs a shop in The Lakes Estate, raising money for the ‘Help Our Homeless’ initiative.

It was fantastic to see such a range of donations in the shop, and hear first hand from local people how the shop not only raises funds for the homeless, but supports residents with low incomes to buy affordable clothes and other goods. The shop provides a great place for Managing My Money Connectors to meet people that may benefit from their support to make small changes that may have big, positive impacts on their financial situations.

If you live in Broughton, The Lakes Estate or Woughton, and would like to speak to one of your local Managing My Money Connectors, please contact connectors@communityactionmk.org or call 01908 661623.
