Are you a good listener and like the company of older people?

Can you spare an hour every week or fortnight to visit an older person in their own home for a friendly chat and to provide a bit of support?

Age UK’s befriending scheme provides visitors for older people in their own homes who may be lonely or feel isolated. The main aim of the visit is to be friendly and chat although you may feel able to give a little practical help although volunteers are not expected to do housework or shopping.

These visits take place on a day and time agreed between the volunteer and client. Volunteers are supported by local organisers and will receive appropriate training and travel expenses.
