Independent Living Service Volunteers are the ‘point of contact’ for the service user and will enable them to access the services they require to alleviate the crisis and move on with their lives.
The Volunteer will support the person to meet their goals and outcomes. As an Independent Living Service volunteer the primary aim is to enable the service user to recover from their crisis and to receive practical and emotional support.
The Independent Living service is dedicated to making the lives of vulnerable people that little bit better. We’re a large team dotted all over the country that shares the same goal – to help those that need it most. From picking up groceries to helping out around the house, we’re there to make a difference. There’s nothing better than knowing the time we spent with someone made them feel safer, happier, and more able to deal with crisis.
Using your own car, you will offer support to vulnerable people in Buckinghamshire to attend important hospital appointments. This will involve collecting people from home, transporting them to hospital, assisting them around the hospital and to attend the appointment with them if they wish. After the journey home you will resettle them at home and provide emotional support and companionship if required. A few days later you will make a welfare phone call to the person to see how they are.
