MK Play Association (MKPA), one of the longest-serving independent charities in Milton Keynes, dedicated to developing the health and wellbeing of children through play within Milton Keynes and the surrounding area, are looking for a Chair of Trustees.
About MK Play Association
Whilst, not a frontline charity, MKPA plays a vital part in the community because of the affordable resources and services it provides to local children, families, carers, nurseries, schools in addition to other local community groups such as Guides and Scout groups, youth clubs and groups and SEND support groups.
The charity’s vision is to ‘Teach, Play, Learn, Explore‘ and their mission is to develop the health and wellbeing of children through play within Milton Keynes and the surrounding areas to enable them to grow to full maturity with the skills that they need for tomorrow. MKPA services include:
- Delivering play sessions and events to the local community
- Offering detailed guidance to statutory, private, voluntary and community sectors and to anyone who recognises, as we do, the value of child centred, free play
- Providing organisations that work with children training and resources to deliver high quality play opportunities.

About the role of the Chair of Trustees
By stepping into the role of the Chair of Trustees, you will be helping to ensure the ongoing sustainability and therefore allow MKPA to continue to provide support to other local community groups and organisations.
The Chair will hold the Board and Executive Team to account for the Charity’s mission and vision, providing inclusive leadership to the Board of Trustees, ensuring that each trustee fulfils their duties and responsibilities for the effective governance of the charity.
The Chair will also support, and, where appropriate, challenge the Chief Executive and ensure that the Board functions as a unit and works closely with the entire Executive of the charity to achieve agreed objectives. He or she will act as an ambassador and the public face of the charity in partnership with the Chief Executive.
