Who are MK YiS?
YiS Young People’s Mental Health is a long running independent charity that works in Milton Keynes to help young people as well as the people that support them.
Early Support Hub Peer Support Worker
The YiS Early Support Hubs provide a drop-in service for young people aged 11+ who would like a safe space to access support for their mental health and wellbeing without needing a referral or an appointment. Young people will gain access to light touch, early intervention information, signposting, and guidance to support their mental health and emotional wellbeing needs before they hit a crisis point. Hubs enable young people to meet like-minded peers in their community.
MK YiS are looking for a passionate, solution-focused, and dependable person to play a vital and rewarding part in helping to support the work of the YiS Early Support Hubs. Working closely with the Early Support Hub Lead to support the needs and desires of young people accessing the Early Support Hubs and working collaboratively with other organisations, such as Terrence Higgins Trust, Girl Pack, Q:Alliance, Thames Valley Police, etc.
Within this role, you will be required to help young people develop the knowledge, skills, and confidence to manage their own mental health and wellbeing. Using resources and activities to help young people make positive lifestyle changes. The role will take a holistic approach that helps increase a young person’s overall wellbeing and aspirations to live a healthier and happier life.
