Post Title: Building Better Opportunities Admin Support Worker. This Post is funded by European Social Fund and The Community Fund.

Location: Age UK MIlton Keynes Kiln Farm Office. You may be required to support the Project Officers at Job Clubs from time to time.

Responsible to: Building Better Opportunities Manager.

Responsible for: Supporting the BBO Project Officers by preparing client folders, Photocopying and scanning files. Supporting the BBO Programme Manager by preparing the financial and participant information for the returns to the Accountable Body. Occasionally to support the BBo Project Officers at Job Clubs. To support the job club at Kiln Farm. To attend weekly meeting and take minutes.

Position Status: 20 Months fixed contract May 2021.

Hours and Rate: 16 hours @ £9.00 per hour.

Additions: Expenses will be reimbursed on the production of completed forms and evidence.

Purpose of the Job: The post holder will be responsible for supporting the BBO Project Workers and the Programme Manager in order to deliver the Building Better Opportunities Programme in Milton Keynes, Aylesbury and Northamptonshire.

Duties: To Support the BBO Project Workers at Job Club when required (travelling to different locations in Milton Keynes, Aylesbury and Northamptonshire. Travel expenses will be reimbursed)

To provide administrative support to the BBO Programme.

To provide general administrative support to the BBO Project Worker and Programme Manager.

To maintain an efficient up-to-date filing system.

To carry out general office duties including: word processing, answering telephone calls, dealing with post.

To Provide an information service to telephone enquiries and callers who visit the office and send out information when necessary.

To take messages, recording and referring these on to BBO staff.

To assist with the collating and updating of information for specific projects and activities.

Technical Competencies/ Attributes: At least 1 year’s experience within an office or similar environment. Ability to use Windows packages particularly Word and Excel. Pleasant Telephone Manner. Good verbal and written communication skills. Working hours to meet the needs of the service.

POST TITLE: Building Better Opportunities Job Club Support Worker. This post is funded by European Social Fund and the Community Fund.

Location: Age UK Milton Keynes Kiln Farm Office, various locations in Northamptonshire.

Responsible to: Building Better Opportunities Programme Manager.

Responsible for: Supporting clients who attend job clubs to use digital technology for: Developing job search skills; CV’s; Identifying training needs; and Supporting them into work. All administration required to submit quarterly returns to the Programme Manager.

Position Status: 20 Months fixed term contract to May 2021. Mobile working in Northamptonshire with Hot Desking at partner organisations. You will be required to attend project meetings in Milton Keynes on a weekly basis.

Purpose of the Job: The post holder will be responsible for supporting clients attending Age UK Milton Keynes job clubs. You will carry out initial assessments and devise a personal programme for each client. You will deliver support in Northamptonshire. You will be responsible for booking rooms for training courses that support the programme.

The programme is targeted at supporting hard to reach residents in Northamptonshire into employment. It is an initiative that is working with long term unemployed and economically inactive beneficiaries to provide tailored support that enables them to move into sustained employment. The age range for participants is 50+ and those that have caring responsibilities, (including children). The programme is currently scheduled to run until June 2021.

Main Responsibilities: Complete assessments with clients identifying their training needs and make recommendations to the Projects Officer and Manger.

Complete a programme that will support clients to remove the barriers that exist to their employment.

Complete all paperwork required by ESF/Lottery to ensure compliance with the guidelines of the BBO Programme.

Maintain confidentiality of clients on the programme.

Attend project meetings and input into the delivery of the programme.

Support the BBO Project Officer when required to cover sickness and holiday.

To adhere to Age UK Milton Keynes policies and procedures.

Knowledge and Experience: The Successful candidate should be able to evidence the following criteria:

IAG qualification, if you do not have a current qualification AGE UK MK will pay for training, however should you leave the post within 6 months you will be required to reimburse the organisation the training fee.

DBS required

Experience of working with clients in a sensitive manor

Use of IT, supporting clients to use search engines and undertake basic skills assessments

A track record demonstrating your ability to complete paperwork to a high standard

Proven experience in completing forms and understanding the requirements for evidence for the BBO programme (training will be given)

Working Hours: Your working hours are 25 per week. 4 hours will be based at Age UK Milton Keynes, Kiln Farm on Monday. Various locations in Northamptonshire to be planned with the BBO Programme Manager.

A car is essential for this post. Your travel expenses will be reimbursed from the base in Northamptonshire to other venues in the county at the current Age UK Milton Keynes mileage rate (.40 per mile). Car parking will be reimbursed on production of receipts.

Volunteering opportunity of the week: Salcey Forest and Silverstone Woodlands

If you enjoy the outdoors,want to learn new skills, meet new people and help the team look after the nations forest, why not get involved with your local group today.


The sessions are based at both Salcey Forest and the community woodlands in and around Silverstone and led by our Recreation Rangers and Forest Craft workers. Each session offers individuals the opportunity to learn a variety of new skills in woodland management, the environment and the chance to meet new people whilst out in the great outdoors. In return, the sessions provide us the opportunity to educate people on the work Forestry England do and receive some valuable support helping us to ensure our trees remain healthy and that our woodlands encourage a diverse range of wildlife species. At every session our volunteers receive on the day training, tools and of course tea and biscuits.
