The Centre of Expertise on Child Sexual Abuse

Please find below a statement from the CSA Centre regarding funding:

“We are excited to say that we are now accepting applications for our Evaluation Fund (5k-25k).

The fund is open to organisations (England and Wales) who are providing programmes in educational settings or working with, and providing direct services to children and young people who are at risk of, or are experiencing CSE or CSA.

We have a particular interest in evaluation work with children and young people in or leaving care and/or children and young people with learning difficulties, as the evidence shows that they are at increased risk.

Front-line services tackling child sexual abuse and exploitation can often lack the time and resources to investigate the effectiveness of their work.  The fund aims to assist services to put in place the fundamental building blocks that lay the basis for evaluation.

These grants will help services to better measure the results of their work. Improving understanding of what is effective is essential to improving responses to children.”

The Hive – Building Co-operatives

The latest edition of The Hive is now available. It focuses on four ways to celebrate co-ops.

  1. Share your #CoopStories – It is Co-operatives Fortnight 2017. During this period, running from 17 June-1 July, the team are asking people and co-ops to share stories of how working together has made a difference. The aim is to create a wealth of stories to raise awareness about co-operatives.
  2. People from across the co-op sector and beyond will come together on 30 June-1 July to reimagine the economy at Co-op Congress 2017. With keynote speakers on the ‘gig economy’, the launch of a long-term strategy to grow the co-op sector, workshops on the big issues like social care, community development and technology, as well as Dragon’s Den style pitches, Congress is fantastic event. Book your place now.
  3. These are the closing days of voting for Co-operatives UK’s annual Co-operative of the Year Awards. Vote in three categories – Leading, Growing and Inspiring. It’s a wonderful celebration of co-operation. Voting closes 22 June and the winners will be announced at Congress.
  4. The UK Co-op annual report on the performance of the UK co-operative economy launches on Tuesday. Watch out for it on email, or via our Facebook or Twitter pages, and please get ready to spread the word about co-ops and the inspiring stories emerging in another successful year for the co-operative sector.

Have you Signed up to CAPE? Why wait!

CAPE (Community Action Platform for Energy) is a one-stop website for all your energy needs. We have spoken about CAPE a lot recently because we believe in it. It is a website designed by partners across Milton Keynes to help you, the community members, save on your energy bills, help the environment, give you back control over energy usage and provide a place where, if you have an energy question, there is a knowledgeable and equally invested community waiting to help.

As part of our partnership in the CAPE project, Community Action: MK are helping spread the word about the CAPE platform in the communities.

The website is due to launch in a few weeks. Before then, we have been hosting field trials to meet, engage and answer questions from community members.

Our first field trial, the LED Light-bulb Swap, was successfully held at the Lakes Estate. The turnout was fantastic and lots of community members were able to understand what CAPE represented.

We now have a second field trial. Created by Michael Sheppard, the focus is on Off Grid Solar Lighting. This field trial is looking for participants who are keen to get involved and save on energy emissions and costs by utilising off hour energy.

If you are interested in signing up and learning more about Michael’s project, please visit:

Sign up, log in and become a member to remain involved and updated on any changes being made.

We look forward to your involvement.
