Pepperhill & Stanton School: MK Lightning Ice Hockey Tickets

Do you and your family fancy seeing the MK Lightning ice hockey match at Planet Ice on Saturday 21st January 2017.

mkl_logo_new

If the answer is ‘Yes!’, then please book your tickets through Stanton School and have a fantastic evening’s entertainment, followed by the opportunity to take to the ice after the match for a skate. The after match skating is free of charge, but any skate hire will cost £2.20 per person, payable on the night in the reception area of the rink from the 1st period break.

These have arranged before and they have only ever had positive feedback. As half the ticket price paid goes back to the school, the event is a school fundraiser too!

There is a simple process to follow:

  • Please complete your ticket needs in the attached form, and send them back to school with your payment. To check the deadline for this please contact Stanton School
  • Your names and ticket numbers are then forwarded to the venue; you simply turn up by 6.30pm at the latest: Planet Ice Milton Keynes, 1 South Row, Milton Keynes, MK9 1DL: and collect your tickets from our ticket collection gazebo , in  the car park just outside our main reception.
  • The match starts at 7pm. Visit: www.mk-lightning.co.uk for details.
  • Cost: per family ticket (4 people) £10, per adult £5  and per child £3

All tickets must be paid for in advance to the school, and not on the door.

The School hopes that as many families as possible will support this event and enjoy an exciting game too!

Volunteer Spotlight: Jo Millington-Wallace

We’re sharing stories about amazing volunteers giving their time in Milton Keynes. This spotlight is on Jo Millington-Wallace, who volunteers with MK Snap.

MK Snap is a centre for people with a learning disability to attend for Education, Life skills and work training. Jo comes to MK Snap every Tuesday and Friday morning. On Fridays, Jo supports the tutors at MK Snap in a sports session and it is very obvious that sport is something that she is very passionate about. She will help out in the classroom for the first half of the session, which involves helping Learners engage in activities including quizzes and games about sport – usually through the computer or interactive board. This is a crucial part of learning for the Learners as they mostly learn through visual aids. After break, the Learners will participate in the activities in the sports hall, which involves various sports including tennis, cricket, badminton, boccia, football and many more. Jo will give 1-1 support where needed to enable all the Learners to participate in all the activities they wish to.

Jo has been very consistent as a volunteer at MK Snap. The Learners at MK Snap very much enjoy working with Jo because she is very reliable and flexible, and helps out in anyway that she can. She has gone above and beyond her role as a volunteer, sometimes replacing members of staff when needed. She has also helped out on occasions when she would not normally have been scheduled to help, and has volunteered with the Snap Choir and at fundraising events. Jo is very reliable and always lets the charity know if she cannot attend for any reason. Even when MK Snap have invited Jo to events to say thank you for her support as a volunteer ,she has still ended up helping out in some way! MK Snap said:

Jo is a real asset to the team at MK Snap and she is highly respected and appreciated here by both the staff and Learners.

Jo has received an award for Sports Activities’ at MK Volunteer Awards 2016 Ceremony at Stantonbury Theatre on the 5th October 2016.
