Weekly Support Sessions – online

For Groups & Volunteers. We offer weekly online support sessions. These are open to voluntary groups and organisations that need support with anything related to volunteer recruitment, general development and governance, comms and funding etc. If you are an individual looking for a volunteering role or wanting to start a community project or a group in Milton Keynes, you can book onto the session too. For Local Residents and Groups. Come and chat with our team at our community pop-ups.
- Thursday 23rd March 12-2pm – Community pop up at the Lily Cafe in Whitehouse at Dorset Way off, Whitehouse, Brahaman Way, MK8 1EQ. Come chat to us about volunteering, to share your feedback and find out about what else is happening in the local community.
- Saturday March 25 11.00 – 2.30pm – Glebe Farm Spring Community Day – at Glebe Farm School, MK17 8XY ! If you’re interested in a stall, register your interest support@communityactionmk.org.
- Thursday March 30th 12 – 1.30pm – Kingsmead South, Guildford Ave, Outside Co-Op MK4 4JZ, look out for Camille and Sue in Community Action Pink High Vis Vests!

For local VCSE Groups and organisations: Mental Health Alliance – monthly meeting (online o r in person) ,Open to all groups in MK keen to get involved in the Alliance to work collaborative on the mental health and wellbeing related matters and projects. For joining details, email networks@communityactionmk.org. Mental Health Alliance is being delivered with co-production and open-learning at heart. Local events
Central Milton Keynes Library – events
The library will host a themed set piece with a selfie space, a dressing up-box, props, backdrops, lights and music. Children and their families are invited to take part in a packed schedule of FREE events and activities, from sweet-making workshops to story time sessions, which will run throughout the half term. MK Community Foundation: CPD Conference
MK Community Foundation are running the Voluntary Sector CPD Conference on Friday 24th March. Find out more and buy your tickets here.

RNLI FUNDRAISING MK. Various collections have been arranged, any support is welcome. Sat and Sun 25/26 March RNLI will be at Morrisons CMK. Sat and Sun 15/16 April RNLI will be at Morrisons Westcroft. Finally, on Thurs 4th of May RNLI will host a final collection at Fisherman’s Friends @ The Stables at 8pm. Read more informations here.

BLMK MENTAL HEALTH SUMMIT: CALLING ALL THOSE WITH LIVED EXPERIENCE. A public call has been issued for people with lived experience to help shape mental health care planning and delivery rather across Bedford, Bedfordshire, Luton and Milton Keynes. Fundraising Quiz Night – Saturday 1st April at Simpson Village Hall – 7pm start. With Fish & Chips with Veggie Option £15.00 p.p. or £7.50 p.p without the supper. Proceeds to Transition Town Milton Keynes. Maximum 8 people on a table. Bring your own drink – tea available at half time. Raffle prizes gratefully accepted. Sunday 2nd April: Great Get Together Iftaar 2023 at Church of Christ the Cornerstone. Ramadan is the month of hospitality and sharing –
people of no faith and all faiths are welcome. Recitations, poetry stories & songs on the theme of celebrating the strength of women. Event ends with a catered meal that is free to all attendees. Find out more and book you space here.

25th May 2023. CVSL – Annual Conference 2023. CVSL is an Academic Centre of Excellence and part of The Open University Business School. Once again, this event will be held online and is free to all to help maximise accessibility and inclusion. Voluntary sector organisations are facing challenges linked to the current financial crisis and it is with this in mind that CVSL is convening a conference bringing practitioners, policymakers, funders and researchers to discuss their experiences and share ideas on how the sector can support the communities facing economic challenges. National events
National Debt Awareness Week (20 -26 March).
The Debt Awareness Week started on Monday 20th March. This year the focus is on what people need to know if they’re looking into how to get debt help for the first time. You can access useful information from debt support charity StepChange, who run this awareness campaign. Turn2Us, a charity supporting people in financial hardship offer a range of support and resources too. Lots of support related to debt and finances can be found with Citizens Advice Milton Keynes and you can find other useful local services on our Signposting Directory too.
