Weekly Drop-Ins at Whitehouse Surgery

We’re delighted to let you know we’re resuming our drop-in sessions at Whitehouse Surgery, beginning this Thursday 16 June with MK Act. This will be an opportunity to hear more about this Milton Keynes charity, who provide support services to families experiencing domestic abuse.     

You’ll also be able to meet our Volunteer Coordinator, who’ll be able to chat with you about all things volunteering, whether you’re looking for a role or hoping to promote your volunteer opportunities.

No need to book, come and say hello.

Weekly Support Sessions – online

We offer weekly online support sessions. These are open to voluntary groups and organisations that need support with anything related to volunteer recruitment, general development and governance, comms and funding etc. If you are an individual looking for a volunteering role or wanting to start a community project or a group in Milton Keynes, you can book onto the session too. YiS Early Support Hub: Under One Roof – YiS Young People’s Mental Health are hosting a fantastic unique event to support young people in Milton Keynes. As part of the newly developed Early Support Hubs project, YiS are inviting essential services to attend so that young people (aged 11-18) can have access to everything they need ‘Under One Roof’. YiS have invited services that are beneficial for young people to have access to and learn more about. Services relating to mental health, physical health, sexual health, homelessness, young carers, and more have all been approached to attend this event. All services that are joining will be announced on YiS’s social media platforms – @YiSMentalHealth This is a free event for young people to attend. Light refreshments will be available. Please note that this event is for young people and service providers only. We will allow some time at the end of the session if any parents/ carers/ guardians have any questions.

Free Community Event: ‘Understanding County Lines’ –
Saturday 20th August (11am- 1pm at MK Christian Centre, Strudwick Drive, Odbrook
County Lines is a form of criminal exploitation in which criminals groom and manipulate children and vulnerable adults to recruit them as runners to transport drugs and cash all over the country, so that the criminals behind it can remain detached and less likely to be detected. Leo Powell, one of UK’s leading County Lines trainers, will be running the session, which is being hosted by MK Christian Centre. He will demonstrate a wealth of knowledge and expertise in the area of gangs, grooming, exploitation and more – to find out more about Leo’s work in London, watch a short film here.The event comes at the time of the revision of the National Drugs Strategy, which is currently being discussed by the local Safer MK Partnership. Sessions are open to anyone over 17 experiencing mental health problems. The sessions are FREE, lots of fun, for all abilities and drop-in sessions, so no need to book and no referral required. The sessions are all delivered by a qualified instructor and all equipment will be provided. Carers, friends and family are more than welcome to accompany participants to the sessions – the more the merrier!

Conniburrow Wellbeing Cafe
Wednesdays 10:30 – 2.30pm

ROC wellbeing group are collaborating with Great Linford Parish Council, the Big Local, the Salvation Army and residents of Conniburrow to open a Wellbeing Cafe on Conniburrow. The Cafe will be open on Wednesdays 10:30am to 2pm and will offer tea, coffee, soft drinks, sandwiches, toasties and paninis and cakes. We are starting with craft activities and will add to this as we hear and respond to local need. Find out more here.

Fridays 10am – 1pm

ROC wellbeing group also run a wellbeing cafe in Coffee Hall under the name Grapevine. Here you can have a friendly cuppa, chat and toastie, as well as learn about or get involved with their gardening club and their Friendship Shed. Find out more here.
