MK Climate Action Network

Background

We are helping the new Network to help build on their work to bring together a range of groups with an interest in climate related issues. The Network first met in the summer of 2023 and has run some very successful events since, bringing together interested parties from across the City.

The aim of the collaborative initiative is to give groups related to local action on climate a space to meet regularly – to inform and inspire each other, identify common goals and shared causes, and generate joint initiatives.

We are inviting and encouraging all local Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise groups and organisations in Milton Keynes to join this collaborative initiative. Groups do not need to necessarily have a primary focus on climate related issues but if they wish to engage in meaningful discussions about climate change it would be a good opportunity.

Where are we now?

We are supporting MK Climate Action Network with the funding from the National Lottery Community Fund. Currently the Network is working on formalising their governance , including forming their Management Committee, and we are asset mapping the network to see how best to work with new and existing partners. The Network is also holding regular events and pop ups in the City to help raise awareness of the activities of the various groups involved and publicise the network to possible new partners.

The Climate Action Network is also hoping to help shape future planning in Milton Keynes to help make the city more sustainable and encourage the public and decision makers to work towards a greener city for the future.
