Community Action: MK are offering FREE workshops around themes of inclusion within the world of volunteering! Read on to find out more and how to sign up!
This is an opportunity for anyone working / volunteering or planning to volunteer in the voluntary sector. Sessions will be held in person and are a great opportunity to meet other people in the sector!
The sessions are as follows:
Tuesday 29 October 9.30-1pm General Access for People with Disabilities
In this workshop from MK Centre for Integrated Living, you will gain insight into the various barriers faced by people with disabilities and explore ways to remove them. You will learn about different types of disabilities and the laws that protect people with disabilities.
This session aims to build your confidence to include people with disabilities in activities and spaces. Furthermore, you will learn how to ensure your processes are accessible to everyone.
Thursday 21 November 9.30-1pm Deaf / Sight Loss Awareness
This session will be delivered by MK Sensory Service covering:
- Insight into the effects of sight and hearing loss
- Understanding how best to communicate effectively with people who have sight and hearing loss
- An understanding of hearing aids and how they help.
Tuesday 10 December 10-1pm Inclusive Communications
This workshop, Jay Virgo from Q:alliance will help you learn about inclusive communication and how people understand and express themselves differently, and allow you to share information inclusively. You will learn about the importance of shaping your messages with an inclusion lens and giving you the confidence to know how to do it.
Jay will be covering a variety of topics within the strand of communications work and sharing his experience on what makes good communications and offering an upskill session for overall organisation growth, website development, brand guidelines, presentations, social media, Internal and External communication.
