BMK Waterway Offer
We offer a free cruise on Electra (The Electric Community Boat) on the Grand Union Canal through the heart of Milton Keynes for up to 12 people including refreshments, on the cruises set out below. Electra is fully accessible and we can accommodate up to 2 wheelchairs. Children are welcome with a 1:3 adult to child ratio; trips work best for over-fives. Electra is silent in operation and, as you cruise, you are able to look ducks and moorhens ‘in the eye’.

How is it funded?
We fund these free cruises by the generous donation of previous guests.
How do we apply?
- Contact Brian at brian.kite@bmkwaterway.org. Put Family Special Cruise in the title and tell him a bit about yourselves. If you have a website, let Brian have your URL.
- Look on the website https://www.bmkwaterway.org/electra for dates of any of the following cruises which currently have no tickets booked, and contact Brian, as above to say which you’d like to choose.
NOTE: Cruises from Great Linford stop for winter at the end of September 2025 and those from Campbell Wharf at the end of October. Cruises restart in May 2026. You could arrange a forward date in 2026 but make sure it is the same day of the week as this year!

Who are we?
Electra is owned by the Bedford and Milton Keynes Waterway Trust (Registered Charity 1114294). The Trust champions the creation of a nationally recognised Waterway Park linking Bedford and Milton Keynes that will bring social, economic and environmental benefits locally. Volunteers run Electra to raise awareness and funds for the Trust.
