Local residents and professionals are being invited to join an important discussion on the safety of women and girls in the city.
Fawcett MK is hosting a half-day workshop to introduce the national strategy, ‘Freedom from Violence and Abuse’.
Date: Wednesday 13th May 2026
Time: 10:00am – 1:00pm
Location: C2C Women’s Centre, Margaret Powell House, Midsummer Boulevard, MK9 3BN.
The event is designed for anyone who works, volunteers, or has an interest in making Milton Keynes a safer place. Supported by C2C, SAASS MK, and Community Action: MK, the session focuses on how national plans to halve violence against women and girls (VAWG) can be implemented locally.
What the Workshop Covers
The session is intended to be interactive and inclusive, as VAWG is an issue that affects the entire community. Attendees will have the opportunity to:
- Understand the Strategy: Get a comprehensive overview of the government’s scope and the four pillars underpinning the national Action Plan.
- Local Impact: Examine what the strategy specifically means for the women and girls living and working in Milton Keynes.
- Networking: Connect with others in the city who are dedicated to reducing violence and abuse.
- Practical Application: Reflect on how individual organisations or groups can play a part in city safety, and take away notes to inform future work.
Places can be booked via Eventbrite. For those looking for more background information, Fawcett MK has published a report titled Women’s Lives in Milton Keynes: What the Evidence Shows, which is available on their website here.
