📅 Wednesday 3 June 2026
⏰ 4:00–6:00pm
📍 Middleton Hall, centre: MK (changed from MK Rose)
Whether you already volunteer, support volunteers, are curious about getting involved, or simply want to celebrate the incredible people who give their time to others, this free, family-friendly event is for you!
A celebration of the people behind our communities
Volunteering has always been part of Milton Keynes’ story. In fact, when Milton Keynes was awarded city status in 2022, its strong culture of volunteering and community action was recognised as one of the things that makes the city distinctive, with an estimated 84,500 residents volunteering regularly.
Now, we want to shine a spotlight on those people and the organisations they belong to.
Hosted by us here at Community Action: MK, in collaboration with a range of local organisations who champion volunteering across Milton Keynes, the celebration will bring together residents, charities, community groups, volunteers and families for an afternoon filled with connection, gratitude and community spirit.
Visitors can expect:
- Community stalls and activities
- Performances from local groups
- Food and picnic spaces
- Volunteer stories shared throughout the afternoon
- Opportunities to connect with local organisations and each other
Most importantly, it will be a chance to say thank you to the people who help make Milton Keynes such a welcoming and compassionate place to live.

Send us your stories and help us celebrate Volunteers’ Week
As part of this year’s celebrations, we are also looking for volunteer stories, testimonials and quotes from volunteers and organisations across Milton Keynes to share throughout the week!
We would love to hear:
- What volunteering means to you
- Why your volunteers make a difference
- Moments that have inspired you
- Messages of thanks to volunteers
- Stories of connection, kindness and impact
These stories will be shared throughout Volunteers’ Week across our social media channels, helping to celebrate the many different faces of volunteering in Milton Keynes. These will also feature in a special Volunteers’ Week edition of our newsletter. You can view last year’s edition here.
Whether it’s a short quote, a personal reflection or a thank you message to your volunteers, we would love you to get involved and help us celebrate the amazing people behind our communities. You can send it to use via a short form or a video message!
From supporting parks and community events to helping neighbours, mentoring young people, running activities and offering practical support, volunteers are at the heart of life in Milton Keynes.
Annette Parmar, Volunteering Lead at Community Action: MK, said:
“Volunteering has always been part of Milton Keynes’ DNA. This celebration is about saying thank you — and about creating a joyful, shared moment for the people who give their time, skills and care to make our city such a connected and compassionate place.”
David Lewis, Volunteer and Recreation Co-ordinator at The Parks Trust, added:
“The Parks Trust is proud to work alongside our fantastic volunteers, who help bring education, events and activities to life across Milton Keynes’ parks. With 240 diverse and amazing people taking part in our volunteer programme, we’re able to create thousands of opportunities for everyone to learn, explore and care for our amazing city together.”
