Our next guest blog this Volunteers Week comes from DAFS (Drugs & Alcohol Family Support) in Milton Keynes. You can learn more about what they do and how to get involved and volunteer with them below…

DAFS (Drug & Alcohol Family Support) are a grass roots voluntary service who use our own lived experience to support & empower families of addicted loved ones, without judgement or exclusion.
We motivate families to start to live their lives again & to practise self-care. We encourage them to laugh & to have hope for the future, no matter what choices their loved ones make.
What we offer
- a SAFE SPACE to come together & share our lived experience, hopes & fears
- a fully confidential service
- compassion & understanding
We also aim to raise awareness of addiction in our communities & work to reduce stigma.
We welcome volunteers to help us facilitate local face to face groups which take place fortnightly (evenings from 7:30-9pm) in several venues across Milton Keynes & also in Bedford
Lived experience is preferable but not essential, as empathy & understanding of people is key.
We support struggling families.
